Here are some guest reviews:
- Exceptional customer service, comfortable rooms with stunning views, and convenient location within Iguazú National Park. Guests also enjoyed the superb breakfast buffet amidst scenic surroundings.
- Do NOT book this hotel - consistent terrible subpar service (provide wrong info, didnt communicate essential info, SILENT TREATMENT, slow service, wrong shuttle bus despite verifying twice with 2 different staff, only take down my cocktail order but I didnt get to hold/drink my order) from the reception, guest relations and concierge teams (many staff around but they are really bad at their jobs). No one takes ownership - talked to 3 different hotel managers (face to face) but new mistakes appear. Belmond's service -> avoidant style (ZERO follow up from any manager, each said I already spoke to the previous).
Lousy service experience. Utterly disappointed. Good points - convenient location: (the only hotel) inside Brazil's Iguazu park (but service deteriorates due to no competition) and an excellent spa experience. Alternative to stay inside Iguazu park - stay at the hotel inside Argentina's Iguazu park. - Once in a lifetime experience. Do it.
Treat yourself. One night is enough, maximum 2 unless you have the money for more. Get up early for sunrise and go see the falls before tourists arrive. Nothing like it. We didn’t think Y restaurant was worth it but the al la carte menu was incredible so go for that or Buffett. - To be able to see the fall prior to the opening of the park is precious.
Facilities are top notch. Room service is fast. Shuttle service available to get to the gate of the park, from there, a taxi ride to the airport is only 10 real. - Thaís is the best hotel I have ever been to. Not just the landscape, but also the architecture and the service provided was outstanding
- Fabulous hotel in an amazing location! To be able to see the falls before the park is open is very special.
All the staff were so friendly and the customer service was second to none. Definitely recommend as a place to stay!
Considering a different experience? Check out Sanma Hotel, located close to Iguazu Falls and the airport, offering a family-friendly environment with excellent service. Or perhaps the Bourbon Cataratas do Iguaçu Thermas Eco Resort, known for its fantastic family-friendly amenities and ideal location near Iguazu Falls, might be more your style!
Exclusive Perks.. Worth it?
Let's be honest, staying at the Hotel Das Cataratas isn't exactly a budget-friendly decision. But the question is, do the exclusive perks justify the price tag? For many, the answer is a resounding YES, and here's why.
The biggest draw is, without a doubt, the exclusive access to Iguazu Falls before the park opens to the general public. Imagine strolling along the walkways, witnessing the sunrise paint the cascading water in breathtaking hues, all without the crowds. It's an experience that's truly magical and worth waking up early for.
Imagine seeing the falls as the sun rises – an unforgettable experience.
Beyond the early access, the hotel itself offers a luxurious and comfortable retreat. The Portuguese colonial architecture is stunning, and the rooms are well-appointed with beautiful details. The hotel also boasts a large swimming pool, tropical gardens, and a full-service spa, providing ample opportunities to relax and unwind after a day of exploring the falls. The attentive staff is often on hand to assist with any needs, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable stay.
However, it's worth noting that some guests have reported issues with the service. While many praise the friendly and helpful staff, others have experienced inconsistent or slow service.
It's always a good idea to read recent reviews before booking to get a sense of the current guest experience. For example, one review mentions "consistent terrible subpar service" while others rave about the "Exceptional customer service."
Here's a quick breakdown of the pros and cons:
- Pros:
- Exclusive access to Iguazu Falls before the park opens
- Luxurious accommodations and amenities
- Stunning Portuguese colonial architecture
- Attentive and helpful staff (in most cases)
- Prime location within Iguazu National Park
- Cons:
- High price tag
- Inconsistent service reported by some guests
Ultimately, whether or not the exclusive perks are worth it depends on your priorities and budget. If you're looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience and are willing to splurge on luxury and convenience, then Hotel Das Cataratas is definitely worth considering. However, if you're on a tighter budget or prioritize impeccable service above all else, then you might want to explore other options.
Speaking of other options, if you're looking for alternatives, consider Sanma Hotel, known for its excellent location and service. Or, if you're traveling with family, the Bourbon Cataratas do Iguaçu Thermas Eco Resort offers fantastic family-friendly amenities.
Beyond the Falls.. What Else?

Expect to utilize the park's buses or hotel-provided transport. This is a crucial part of preserving the incredible ecosystem, so embrace the journey! Consider it a prelude to the main event – a mini-safari before you even reach the falls.
Now, for the exhilarating part! One of the significant advantages of staying at Hotel Das Cataratas is the opportunity to witness the falls before the throngs of visitors arrive. But how should you fill the remainder of your day?
Here are some suggestions:

- Take a Helicopter Ride: For an absolutely unforgettable experience, consider a helicopter tour above the falls. You'll gain a bird's-eye view of the entire area, providing a profound appreciation for the sheer scale and power of Iguazu.
- Indulge in Shopping: Near the park entrance, discover a selection of souvenir shops where you can acquire gifts and mementos.
You'll also find local crafts and artwork.
And let's not overlook the hotel itself! Hotel Das Cataratas provides a variety of activities and amenities, including:
- Swimming: Immerse yourself in the hotel's expansive swimming pool, surrounded by lush tropical gardens. It's an ideal place to unwind and cool off after a day of exploration.
- Spa: Treat yourself to a massage or other rejuvenating treatment at the hotel's full-service spa.
- Dining: Savor a delectable meal at one of the hotel's restaurants, or enjoy a beverage at one of the bars. The Y Restaurant showcases traditional Brazilian delicacies.
- Tennis: Engage in some physical activity on the hotel's tennis court.
For those inclined to venture beyond the immediate vicinity of the falls, here are some additional options:
- Iguazu City (Argentina): Cross the border into Argentina and explore the town of Iguazu. It's an excellent place to immerse yourself in the local culture and sample Argentinian cuisine.
- Itaipu Dam: Visit the Itaipu Dam, one of the world's largest hydroelectric dams.
You can take a tour of the dam and learn about its history and operations.
Considering alternative accommodations? Sanma Hotel offers a harmonious blend of comfort and accessibility, while the Bourbon Cataratas do Iguaçu Thermas Eco Resort is a sanctuary for families seeking both enjoyment and relaxation.
